Back in 2006, the original members of Sustainable Hockerton quickly came to the conclusion that every action to improve the sustainability of the village needed cash.
They settled on a wind turbine as an investment that offered:
- Returns for investors
- Income for the Village
- Carbon savings
Project managed by Hockerton Housing Project, it took 2.5 years to develop the idea with the village, negotiate a location and related planning permissions, source a (second-hand) wind turbine, and install it on a (thankfully wind-less) day in late October 2009.
